wildlife, some wild some zoo life...

Unread postby gadgetman » Sun Jun 26, 2011 6:55 pm

very early in my shooting career (well hobby really) these shots were taken...not as good as I'd like them to be, but I didn't know any better back then!

this hawk, looks like it's made a kill, but it's in a zoo, and it's "prey" was given to it by a keeper...

Thanks again! Well, the the Toronto zoo was first, the bear second( but my first wild animal shot) so nervous I didn't set the camera and wasted 10 mins of shooting, thankfully on the ride back he was still there, got these shots, the hawk and owl from the Edmonton zoo next, and finally elk island in 2010... So not All were my early shots but most were...

These are awesome ! I love the clarity. And getting it in its natural habitat made it that much better. Good job .

Been sick, wrote a long reply and accidentally hit the back button and lost it. :/

Nonetheless, I'll say, awesome captures. :w00t:

Will reply more later when I get well again!

That series brings me back to when my sister, dad and I got in to watching birds around the house. We'd lay the seeds out, observe, and look up any we didn't know of. It is very relaxing watching them.

I must say one, great series! You must be fast because Chickadee's don't stay long. They like to grab a seed quick and fly off to a higher spot to eat it.

I don't know what the other bird is. Great capture, though. Nice focus with creamy bokeh in the back!

Interesting squirrel, too. The ones here look different. I had to do a double take since I almost mistook it for a chipmunk.

Don't worry about flooding the place with photos. That's what we're here for!

I've got to get out and make some new photos myself! Just seems like every time I try to plan a day to do it, something else comes up and I don't get to. I'll toss my D300 in the trunk tomorrow anyway and maybe on the way to do some errands and yard work for my parents I will find something worthy to shoot. :)

Thanks for sharing!
